Inclusion in EU project
BREIN - Business objective driven REliable and Intelligent Grids for real BusiNess
- The BREIN project attempts with a reinforced 'company-focused' approach to compensate deficits in the grid compound network. Thereby the development of a scheme is targeted which results in the formal presentations of the following: a) Delivery chains b) Corporate aims c) Skeleton-based processes d) Process planning e) Instancing pattern of the process, f) Interaction pattern for intra- and inter-organisations g) Formal presentation of aims h) Abilities and activities of human and artificial actors i) for simulation tools for the support of the decision-making in complex, not-standardised decision processes. To this end, BREIN combines the stability of the grid technologies with the force of the zur Modellierung von Geschäftsprozessen benutzten Methoden, the intelligence and the adaptability of AI systems developed for multi-agents, in particular, concepts for regional offices, planning and optimisation strategies, which are founded on knowledge-based technologies inschließlich der Kenntnis des Semantic Webs and include security technologies in these approaches.
AKOGRIMO
- This is an integrated project in accordance with the aims of the 2nd Call IST of the Sixth EU Framework Programme. Akogrimo - Access to Knowledge through the Grid in a mobile world – aims at the improved and more intensive link of GRID computing in Europe. This should be realised by a Next Generation Grid Design (and a corresponding prototype) so that the immense infrastructures of the Mobile Internet, based on Ipv6 protocols-Protocols, are used and integrated. The integration of the to date, to a large extent, separate areas of the data transmission, telecommunications and the structures used in the distribution system, should realise the targeted aim. The result of the project should be architecture and a trading platform, which supports the usage of the grid service at international level.
DAIDALOS II
- This is a project of the Sixth EU Framework Programme for European Research in the field of Information Society and Technology (IST), Code FP6-2004-IST-4 – strategic aim 2.4.5 – mobile wireless systems from the third generation. Daidalos II is a 3-year project, which includes over 40 European partners. To this belong large network operators, services providers, processing industry operations, science and university centres in the fields of information and telecommunications. DAIDALOS II is intended to design, develop and test a prototype for a system beyond the third generation. Among the main characteristics of this system is the secure and personalised access to pervasive computing services, based on a heterogeneous infrastructure for mobile users. The results of the project provide a contribution to the standardisation mechanisms of mobile communications at international level.
GENESIS
- Genesis was developed as part of the Information Society Technologies programme (IST) to an Open Source platform. Hereby in a targeted manner, coordination and cooperation pre-requisites, typical for the Distributed Software Engineering field are supported and barriers overcome, which have been caused as a result of the spatial scatter of the work groups. The platform makes it possible to distribute the tasks to different locations so that the individual phases of the Software Subprocessing are processed according to competence and the processes and results can be reviewed.
KALEIDOSCOPE
- Kaleidoscope is an excellence network for e-learning that comprises 72 organisations. Among these organisations are universities, research centres and companies. The aim is the integration of the numerous European initiatives in the e-learning segment in order to have developed in the final instance an inter-disciplinary, coherent and jointly applicable system based on theory.
BEINGRID
- The project promotes the application of grid technologies in companies, in that a series of business experiments (BE) in different economic sectors are realised. The BE are supported by horizontal activities in the technologies segments (Ac1), Business and Training (Ac2) and cooperation and identification of lines of argument (Ac6). The BEinGRID results are retrievable from a common databank, which is the subject of specific project activity (Ac5).
- EU FP6 Activity IST-2005-2.5.4 ADVANCED GRID TECHNOLOGIES, SYSTEMS AND SERVICES
ELEGI
- EleGI is an integrated project lasting four years, which is financed as part of the 1° Call of the Sixth EU Framework Programme the project is managed by a consortium consisting of 23 partners and 9 member states. ELeGI pursues the aim of researching, defining and testing an innovative software platform based on GRID technologies, in order to develop learning scenarios of the next generations, which are based on context-linked didactic models, which are characteristic for experience and cooperation.
m-Learning
- As a result of the investigation of the possibilities for information propagation and for didactic application, which are offered by the current and future mobile equipment (mobiles, PDA´s, net books) and mobile communications networks, 'continuous further training' is intended to be promoted in connection with the V. Framework programme IST (Information Society Technologies).
Activities
Spin-off MOMA
The competences acquired, the technologies, the work tools realised and the recognised management positions in the field of a number of research topics, in particular, with respect to e-learning, have caused CRMPA to pay particular attention to the transfer of innovation on the ICT market. As a result of the spin-off of the MoMA SrL and the foundation of the excellence centre described in the following, an important basis for the completion of the innovation chain was generated. MOMA is the sole Italian SME, which is a member of the Networked European Software & Services Initiative (NESSI). Nessi is a new technology platform in Europe, which generates a uniform infrastructure for electronic services on the Continent. With 22 members, it is one of the largest European Software-, Telecommunications and Services companies.
The L&K Pool
CRMPA has sponsored the foundation of an ICT excellence centre in the Imo Valley (Salerno – Avellino) intensively. CRMPA today is considered the main point of contact for this excellence centre, which is distinguished by a deep synergy between university (University of Salerno and excellence centre for learning and knowledge methods and systems), industrial research (CRMPA) and high-tech SMEs (MoMA). The excellence centre is considered particularly for Southern Italy, the so-called Mezzogiorno, as a development and employment model; it has established itself in Europe with highly regarded and significant projects and maintains constant scientific contracts with USA and the Eastern countries by means of international cooperation programmes. Since 2003 significant industrial projects have been commenced in the centre. In these projects, what are aimed at are the results of diverse national and joint initiatives in the e-learning segment being upgraded using tools and technologies, which will be competitive in the coming years on the international market. This project is being greeted with the interest of many important international players, who have concluded strategic agreements with some firms in the centre and also trade agreements (in particular with MoMA).
Innovation Transfer for Members
As part of cooperation projects conducted by members of CRMPA, the latter has on several occasions had the opportunity for technology transfer. Thereby, on the one hand, these were solutions which could be directly applied on the market and, on the other hand, concerned with the improvement of public services.
Technology Exhibition
In CRMPA, it was always emphasised that, in accordance with the objectives contained in is statutes, great importance was attached to the dissemination of scientific knowledge. For this, on the one hand, guided tours of specially erected laboratories were organised successfully, in particular, for school classes and, on the other hand, the exhibition on online technology was drawn up which is retrievable via the CRMPT URL (www.crmpa.it) in the project sphere. In the following, several initiatives are described: CRMPA has, as part of this IRMA project, received funding in accordance with regional law 41/94, and has realised a virtual museum. Here there is the possibility to assess mathematical instruments, with which the visitor interactively can construct natural phenomena by means of particular games and exercises. For the greater dissemination of scientific results, multimedia applications were created with interactive functions in mathematics. Thereby the virtual museum could be entered without additional settings and equipment from any location. IRMA enables schools and students to approach mathematical applications. These are sub-divided into three large areas: 1) Mathematical Experiments; 2) Mathematics Applications in Industry and the Social Field and 3) Mathematical Games, Puzzles and Tasks. In the application area, there is information on history and reconstruction of computers available, which were presented as part of the school project Course on the Dissemination of Information Technologies – Cycle III of the segment Forma of the initiative ORU 01 Itaca. The project, which is directed at 300 independently acquired young people, is monitored by the University of Salerno and receives the funds required for this from the EU. Similar to the IRMA- project is also the Active Multimedia Mathematical Parcours project (PMMA), financed by MURST .The individual results were published on the CRMPA homepage and made accessible to the visitors. In the section reserved for PMMA, initially some important aspects of mathematical applications in the fields of technology and society were described in general terms. In addition, interactive areas are used, which enable training thanks to a simulated reproduction of the user interface to be undertaken. Every application is simultaneously the starting point of a didactic path, which is distinguished by theoretical contents and also contains formal application means. Among the applications developed in this framework are the cryptography, mathematics in medical diagnostics, the neuronal network, simulation and linear programming. In addition, thanks to KCo funding by MIUR, the Formamentis could be realised. This innovative platform is based on the mechanism of an interactive forum and enables, by means of a commercial personal computer, the presentation of the daily didactic exercises of the students, pupils and teaching staff in the classroom. We therefore do not only have to do with a tool that effectively supports the teaching but also with a meeting point for users, who thus exchange information and opinions, write notices and read interesting links and pass on data and events. All contents are presented simply and spontaneously so that the user quickly becomes familiar with the system and the philosophy of the inter-activity and multimediality as the basis of the product.
Conferences and Congresses
CRMPA has in the course of time organised diverse conferences and congresses also of international interest. Among these are in particular meetings in connection with the most important European research projects, at which the results achieved are presented. Currently CRMPA is organising the VIII SIFL Congress Italian Association for e-Learning – which will take place in September on the CRMPA premises.
Cooperation with Public Administration
CRMPA has taken diverse initiatives to inform technological methods and solutions to public administration. Cooperations with the Campania region and the Province of Salerno are mentioned here.

Sim Learning-Projekt:
Description
This is a project which was submitted in accordance with the Legal Decree 297/99, Article 5 of the Implementing Ordinance DM 593/2000, in the field of assistance funds for research (FAR) to MIUR. The activities began on 01.05.2003 and were ended in June 2006. Tools and models for inductive and experimental learning were used.
Aim
The aim of the Sim Learning project is to acquire and validate knowledge in the mastery of didactic and simulative methodologies and technologies, which are needed for the following framework development for the support and the applications of distance learning services. This is undertaken both according to the inductive-experimental, didactic model as well as by means of scientific experiments (ESV), simulations and business games (BG). Thanks to the investigations and the knowledge acquired by the realisation of this project, the limits of the classical distance learning systems have been overcome. With the traditional systems to date, no methodological problems linked with the learning process can be tackled. The reason for this is the pure presentation of contents without giving sufficient consideration to the differing typologies and phases of the learning process and without methodological or technological support for correct learning process management. The project identifies the targeted use of new and completely developed work tools, the virtual scientific experiments and the business games as possible solutions for the methodological problem in the learning process; it is therefore proposed to review its integration in the e-learning systems. • This is a project which, in accordance with the Legal Decree 297/99, Article 5 of the Implementing Ordinance DM 593/2000 was submitted in the field of the assistance fund for research (FAR) to MIUR. The activities commenced on 01.05.2003.
L&K – Learning & Knowledge Projekt:
Description
This is a project which, in accordance with the Legal Decree 297/99, Article 5 of the Implmentating Ordinance DM 593/2000 was submitted in the field of the assistance fund for research (FAR) to MIUR. The activities commenced in 2005 and were concluded in June 2008. The knowledge technologies and methodologies are seen as the scientific and technological reference.
Aim
The L&K project has proposed the application of innovative, didactic models, which generate leverage on the synergetic and systematic use of the most modern knowledge technologies and methodologies. The project in that sense has been confronted with four specific problem areas: 1) Presentation and adaptation of didactic strategies; 2) Administration and specialisation of knowledge on the basis of pedagogy; 3) Use of the Internet as an inexhaustible source for teaching material ; 4) Advanced collaborative learning instead of ad-hoc solutions for every problem to be made customary, should a complete and systematic approach be developed giving the impulse for the whole knowledge cycle of didactics (generation, inclusion, presentation, determination, partition and re-use).
