Activities

  • Grant Office: The CBM Grant Office facilitates research and innovative companies access to external funding both at home and abroad. It makes grants available, adminsters these and thus supports the cooperation between the individual members and other public facilities or companies at national and international levels. The partners participate in selected research and development projects, whereby the key competences of CBM are taken specifically into account. In addition, the following services for third parties are offered: 1) Administration within the project processing and 2) Information on and coordination of financing possibilities.
  • Osservatorio Economico: Das „Osservatorio Economico“ (Economci observtion unit) supports the tchnology transfer by observing and analaysing the developments in biomedicine in Friuli-Venezia Guilia and the neighbouring countries (Austria and Slovenia). The Osservatorio serves as an instrument for channelling growth initiatives of the regional corporate network.
  • Osservatorio sulle Biotecnologie: Das Osservatorio sulle Biotecnologie (monitoring unit for biotechnologies in medicinen) observes the demand and assesses possible uses of biotechnologies in medicine. In the assessment and evaluation phase of research and development investments, this should serve as a strategic instrument.
  • IP Office: The IP Office works with its function to protect intellectual property, to valorise and finally to monitor the research idea in all phases of business development. This is a complete service starting with idea scouting, via partnership in the project development throught to support in management. The Office supports the facilities and companies in the Technolgy District and concentrates on the following tasks: - Protection of intellectual property (Evaluation of ideas to be protected by patents; Review of the patentability; Assessment of the possible contractual and normative restrictions which prevent protection by patenting; Support with the compilation and submission of patent applications) - Valorisation Plans (Analysis of sales possiblities; Cost/Benefit analysis in conjuction with patent protetcion; Showing the financial resources and thus linked support) - Marketing of IP-Based Produkts (Economic assessment of the IP to be patented and those already patented; Support with start-up and spin-off) - Assistance with assignemnt or licensing of patents and expertise

Internationale Cooperation

CBM pursues its aims by active cooperation with companies, research authorities and national and international faciltities to provide its employees differing and interdisciplinary strcutures. Examples of cooperations already in place are among others: contact with Qatar, above all with the Qatar Foundation, Qatar Scientific and Technology Park di Doha for a procekt in the field of personalised medicine, with Qatar University, de. Hamad Hospital and the National Healthy Authority. Further contacts have been set up with Consorcio Parque de Investigación Biomédica de Barcelona (PRBB) and RIKEN Institute Yokohama for projects in the field of functional genomics. In addition, research cooperations exist with Princeton University (USA), Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (USA), the Wellcome Trust Menome Campus (Great Britain) and the following facilities in Japan: HVC Inc. (Sapporo), Chiba Industry Advancement Center (Chiba) and Kazusa DANN Research Institute (Chiba).
