Research and Development
Energy “ENERPLAN”: geothermal energy by geothermal power
Description
The project, which was founded in 2005, united the resources and competences of the research centres and institutions of the technology district and received financial support from the sixth EU Research Framework Programme. It is aimed at enhancing the technological infrastructure and also that of the research infrastructure in the field of the integrated BioNano Technologies. During the project duration of five years, excellence facilities are to be created for the course of the research activities and experiments and further training courses in the areas biotechnology and integrated nanotechnology are performed. Additionally the prison of structured laboratories for multi-disciplinary research groups and the research results for the review of the economic exploitation of the scientific results have been assured.
Purpose, target group, benefits
The project has the engineering of this technology as its final aim, so that, from a pilot unit, a genuine production site evolves. These parameters are decisive both for the size and feature determinations for energy production facilities and also for the determination of the necessary reviews. Both are significant for the guarantee of optimum functionality under all operating conditions, better maintenance and for ensuring the highest level of reliability.. Target Group: Companies in the public administration field for the retrofitting and modernisation of their properties. Benefits: An innovation sequence in the development and use of renewable and alternative energy sources, analysis activities, testing, development, industrialisation and spread of innovative systems for energy production, taking environmentally compatible and cost-saving factors into consideration.
Energy “ENERPLAN”: heat pumps
Description
The heat pumps currently on the market are only for buildings with a low pressure unit, such as underfloor and ceiling heating. These technologies are not usable in older buildings, unless a complete new installation is decided on. From this consideration, the idea emerged for the development of highly efficient heat pump of medium size, with which water at over 75° can be heated. This innovation is seen as a substitute for the old boilers and pre-supposed no renovation of the complete facility. For this pioneering innovation, a system patent has just been submitted.
Purpose, target group, benefits
By introducing such a product to the market, the energy consumption could be reduced drastically. In addition, renewable energy sources could be used for many types of buildings, the operating costs for the final consumer could be reduced and the pollution emissions eliminated by the boilers in the residential areas. Target Group: Companies in public administration for retrofitting and modernisation of their properties. Benefit: Development and spread of the innovation for the use of renewable and alternative energy sources by the construction of model facilities, which at the same time are technological development laboratories and industrial test facilities. There the technical, environmentally related and economic results of the diverse solutions can be recorded and compared. The energy costs are reduced and simultaneously the pollution emissions can be drastically reduced by the energy consumption in the residential and commercial areas.
Projekt: Slimport
Description
The SLIMPORT project is funded by the Italian strategy programme “Mobilità sostenibile” di Industria until 2015. An innovative harbour concept is realised, that contains modular solutions, in order to structure the work processes between the last sea mile and the first land mile more efficiently. It offers:
- Reduction of the turnaround time and the transit of goods and the waiting times of transit passengers in the harbours;
- Acceleration of the loading, unloading and transfer processes;
- Cooperation with the on-site existing Info Telematics Management Systems;
- More safety for the harbour tasks whilst retaining the business logic;
- Intermodality in the logistics chain;
- Disentangling the transports and sustained mobility in the region.
Purpose, target group, benefits
Purpose: Provision of innovative solutions for hardware and software systems, which have a high technology content. These solutions are based on a high ICT usage level and were planned, as seen from the integrative and modular aspect, to do more justice to the needs of the end users. Target Group: Ports and port authorities, transhipment ports, professional associations of the transport workers (shipping brokers, freight companies, car transporters, terminal workers). Benefits: Both national and also Europe-wide circulation of new products and services, which can enhance the maritime transport market and transport on rail and road. The aim is the reduction of the environmental loading and greater industrial sustainability. Of significance are, in particular, the safety aspect and the perfect state of the transported goods (e.g. perishable goods and dangerous goods), the traceability of which should be improved.
