Inclusion in EU project

SLIMPORT

Partner associations: AREA; Teorema Engineering Srl; Eurotech Spa; CRESM; T&T Srl; Harbour authority Trieste; Transhipment port Fernetti; University of Trieste. Objective: Realisation of an innovative port concept with modular solutions for efficiency enhancement of process technology in the area between the last sea mile and the first land mile.

INDUSTRIA 2015 MADE IN ITALY

  • PROCERPOL Partners: AREA; CIMTECLAB; UNI TS; PETROCERAMICS; MOMA NANOTECH; MEDITEA; SINCROTRONE TRIEST; KILOMETRO ROSSO; Objective: Development of new, innovative and intelligent materials on the basis of polymers and ceramics for the production of orthopaedic artificial limbs.
  • GRAMNOS Partner: AREA; TESAN; SNAIDERO and other important domestic industrial and research companies; Objective: Development of intelligent and innovative systems for ambulant monitoring of patients with neurodegenerative illnesses and, at the same time, functional safeguarding of these patient groups.

ESIL

European Sustainable Innovation Licence, was initiated with the help of the European Programme Leonardo da Vinci. Within this project, a joint training model was developed on the basis of the experience of the partners in the spheres innovation, creativity and sustained production.

TETRIS

Teaching TRIz at School- is funded with the assistance of funds from the "Programma di Apprendimento Permanente 2007 - 2013 Leonardo da Vinci" [programme for continuous further training]. It contains the deepening of the topics "Definition and Solution of Problems" and has set itself the target of promoting creativity and overcoming psychological inertia. The participants in the TETRIS courses gain competences, with the help of which they further develop their creativity, their perceptive ability and the finding of solution approaches.

IUSES

The project is promoted and coordinated by AREA Science Park: it is intended to enhance efficiency in the use of energy in the everyday life of pupils and teaching staff in secondary schools. IUSES deals in accordance with an integrated and uniform concept with the top priority aims of the European Programme "Intelligent Energy Europe“ (IEE): Energy efficiency in buildings, in industry and in transport and the use of renewable energies.

STARNETregio

STARring a transnational network of REGIOnal research-driven marine clusters The aim of the STARNETregio is the creation of stronger and more solid business links with the maritime clusters of the Friuli-Venezia Guilia region, Slovenia and the Croatian Coastal Region of Rijeka to implement joint research agencies and integrated action strategies. In the spotlight is thereby: a) the synergetic integration of the political decisions for the support of public and private investments in the R&D segment, b) promotion of the innovation force in the individual sectors and their competitiveness in compliance with the most recent programmatic decisions of the European Commission (blue book, October 2007), c) aims within the framework of the European initiative "Waterborne Technology Platform".

Friend Europe

AREA Science Park, responsible for the Friuli Venezia Guilia region, is in addition to its membership in the transregional consortium "Friend Europe" also active in the regional consulting unit of the network "Enterprise Europe Network". Active since January 2008, the consortium offers a broad spectrum of tailor-made services, in particular, for SMEs, in order to support them in the following activities: development of new products, opening up of new markets, information on activities and offers of the European Union. AREA Science Park accommodates the regional consulting unit of the network and is responsible for the Friuli Venezia Guilia region.

BINASP (Bio-Nanotechnology European Infrastructure in AREA Science Park)

Comprehensive project for technological infrastructure and research in the sphere of the integrated bio- and nanotechnologies and drew up for the European programme promotion of the technological district for molecular biomedicine. The realisation of excellence centres envisages research activities, experiments and further training in the fields of integrated biotechnology and nanotechnology. In the framework of this project, laboratories for multidisciplinary research groups and action groups are created for the economic upvaluation of the research results. These are located on the new site of PS&T, which was created expressly for the technological area of the molecular biomedicine.

IMPACTS

IMPACTS (Archive Tissues: Improving Molecular Medicine Research and Clinical Practice) is a “Coordination Action”, which comprises 21 research centres in 11 European countries and is part of the sixth Framework Programme of the European Union. IMPACTS was initiated in March 2007and ends in spring 2010. The aim of the project is European standardisation of the research methods in the spheres DNA, RNA and proteins of tissue inserted in formalin or in paraffin. Targeted is the stipulation of common European guidelines for the removal of DNA, RNA and proteins from archived tissue.

Activities

Activity 1

Basilicata Innovazione

The initiative "Basilicata Innovazione" was initiated by the agreement between the Basilicata region and the AREA Science Park. This initiative offers the companies of the Province of Luciana direct access to the specialist world of applied international research and thus access to competent partners, funding and support with the realisation of projects. By means of the network of international cooperation partners, to which both AREA and MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston - belong and thus their competence and technology networks, the SMEs can use qualified services in the technology transfer. For the founding of companies, technical support in all precursor phases of the development of entrepreneurial ideas are offered, from the correct assessment of the sustainability of economic resources through to the compilation of the business plan. By means of research and knowledge of Basilicata, projects and cooperations are promoted, which are aimed at the identification of potential users from industry, who have a respective interest in the research results and competences in the field of innovation.

Activities 2

Innovation Network

Innovation Network is a project supported by the Friuli Venezia Guilia region and AREA that should create stable structures for companies. The aim is the dissemination of research insights and technologies and the promotion of innovative projects. Innovation Network is a conglomerate of Competence Centres, which are active in superordinate subject areas such as the environment, energy, productive efficiency or in the sectors represented in the Friuli Venezia Guilia region such as wood furnishings, agricultural industry, shipbuilding and nautical engineering. Each node of this innovation network offers the interested companies insights, specific competences and services, which are indispensable for the development of innovative products, processes and management.

Sister

Sister – Liaison Office is an AREA project, which serves the research upvaluation in the Province of Friuli Venezia Guilia. In cooperation with the regional research facilities and with the assistance of the funding by the Friuli Venezia Guilia region, AREA has founded a permanent system, with which the companies can be provided efficiently all the knowledge and innovations generated by regional research. Sister – Liaison Office has planned and tested a new upvaluation process; this means better organisation of the processes and services, which are needed for the transfer of the research results to the market. The services of the Sister – Liaison Office are provided free of charge to all researchers in the Friuli Venezia Guilia region.

Domotiva FVG

With this project, it is intended to generate a research, development and production chain in the Friuli Venezia Guilia region for Domotik equipment, which does justice to the current needs of the population at consumer-compatible prices. These are not merely technologies for and about the house, but are integrated systems for simpler, more economic, more ergonomic and safer performance of human activities, wherever these are performed. These devices are commonly used in daily life: in the home, car, boat, hospital, senior citizens and handicapped persons homes, schools, offices, factories etc.

Activity 3

Partnerships

Cooperation with foreign science and technology parks, which are interested in basic and further training in the field of technology transfer and in assisting in the foundation of parks by the consortium. AREA Science Park is currently involved in the field of development, promotion of science and technology parks in USA and in Africa.
