POINT POlo per l’INnovazione Tecnologica della provincia di Bergamo

The POINT Institute in DALMINE was founded in 1996 as an innovation hub by Servitec, a technology pool for furthering regional development. A local establishment does not only have the advantage of working together with various partners and interested supporting organisations on projects but also in addition access to other science and technology parks is gained and also to important Italian and foreign universities, renowned research centres and important public establishments.

Research and Development

ELIMINATION of the NITROGEN COMPOUNDS (NITRO AND AMMONIAC COMPOUNDS from the WASTE WATER in CATTLE BREEDING

Beschreibung

Handling nitrates is in the meantime decisive for the survival of agricultural enterprises. Compliance with the European Directives, which stipulate a reduction of 50% of the amount of nitrogen distributed on the ground in cattle breeding, gives agriculatural operations 3 alternatives: 1) Increase in the available land, 2) Halving the number of animals, 3) Elimination of nitrogen. As the first two possiblities are not practicable for obvious reasons, there remains for the elimination of nitrogen two technological variants: Ammoniac Stripping Biological Removal Most technologists hold the view that the first variant, for safety, environmental and agricultural management reasons, is not suitable. That is, in particular, an insight from an industrial standpoint. Biological removal, by contrast, is implicitly more compatible, as you can fall back on a biological system, which is based on the use of special micro-organisms. With this system, gaseous nitrogen is generated in the elimination of the contamination, which then gets into the atmosphere in full compliance with the Kyoto-Protocol. This solution to date was only used in industry and by private individuals but not in agriculture. The process was successfully tested by POINT di Dalmine (nitrogen reduction of 99%). Thereby a biofilm or a very thick polyethylene carrier is used, on which bacterial flora grow. The carriers are moved with the assistance of special injectors by air blown in. By means of this test, which was carried out in a large agrar unit, the technical and economic feasibility was reviewed.

Nutzen

The technology enabled not only the adaptation of the cleaning capacities to the current and future needs but enabled also the use of the already existing technical operative structures (collection and homogenisation basin, flotation pool, sediment pool, vibrators, pump systems, etc.).

Nanotex

Aim

Project over several years for the investigation and realisation of nano-structural treatments in the textile sector. Industrial research in the textile segment developed a series of improvements in the technical characteristics in the tissue and substances. Servitec hereby is continuing a project aiming at the realisation of highly competitive product processes; thereby nanotechnologies are being used, which can be used by the regional SMEs. The strategic significance of the nanotechnologies and the necessity of optimisation of the use of resources compel the compiling of a strategic research and innovation plan, which involves public and private establishments to active and actual cooperation.

  • Aims: the equipping of textile products with the following technical characteristics: PLASMA HYDROPHYLICITY ABRASION RESISTANCE WATER REPELLENCE Main development lines: TREATMENT of the MATERIAL/THREAD Planned Phases: REALISATON of SUPERFICIAL ATTACHMENT TO THE PLASMA ANALYSIS of the TEXTILE SUBSTRATES DEVELOPMENT AND USE of NEW PROCESSES AND PRODUCTS with a HIGH PERFORMANCE LEVEL.
  • Target Group: SMEs MATERIALS in this research POLYESTER (PET) POLYAMIDE (PA) SILK (SE) WOOL LINEN COTTON (CO) Control tests: Water repellence – Spray test – wear and tear resistance – Martindale – Tensile force resistance - UNI EN ISO 13934-1. 2000- Determination of the tensile force Ballistic oscillation Elmendorf – UNI EN ISO 13937-1:2002 –Determination of the crease recovery resistance – EN 22313.
