Brief description
The Umbria Innovazione Technology Park was founded by the Region of Umbria and private companies with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness and the innovative abilities of the location. Particularly to be promoted were the scientific facilities and small and medium-sized companies in the finance sector.
For this the following measures were taken: sponsorship of the cooperation between the innovation supporters (universities and research institutes) and the clients (local companies); sponsorship of synergies between public institutions and services providers; contact development between companies and financial services providers.

Inclusion in EU project
- RECITAL (Relay Centre for Central Italy: part of the Europe-wide IRC Network): Umbria Innovazione represents the Umbria Region within the IRC Network. As the interface between local companies and the European partners Umbria Innovazione updates reports on innovative technologies, brokers offers and enquiries and advises the companies
- INTERREG III B –EU joint Initiative for Sponsoring Transnational Cooperation and Development
- EFFORT (VI. Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the EU): the project, which is managed by Umbria Innovazione, analyses the factors which lead to the regional and supraregional clusters formation of small and medium-sized companies with the aim of facilitating access to the global market
- Innovation-NET: European Project, which is concentrated on the coordination of the e-business Programme and Innovation Programmes of the European countries
- ASSISTENZA: the project initiated by the European Investment Bank (BEI), supports technology parks in Tunisia

To date there have been no direct contacts with Germany. However, contacts would be desirable in the fields: ICT, aerospace, mechanical engineering, textiles and the participation in technological sponsorship and innovation programmes for small and medium-sized companies.

Description
- Terri - Perri (TERni RIcerca e PERugia Ricerca): sponsors the cooperation between the regional small and medium-sized companies and the research facilities
- RETECH: sponsorship of the technology innovation, support of the local small and medium-sized companies with regard to innovations, sponsorship of new initiatives in the high-tech segment, facilities for research projects and technology transfer
- ENEA: is a Science and Research Ministry project. Planning and Development of a virtual set lab, which is intended to facilitate the introduction the virtual and also the animated technology to the stage world
- Project PIERA to sponsor research in the Umbrian Region. The project envisages the networking of the University of Perugia with research facilities abroad and also the setting up of an international agency to support scientific enhancement and technology transfer
- ASI (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana): sponsorship of technological modernisation, development and technological growth and also sponsorship of science and culture of the country
