Research and Development

Project Format Lab

Description

Prototyping of marketable televise formats for Web TV and TV-on-demand branches.
Assuming a benchmarking analysis of the successful television formats in Europe, a semiotic analysis is conducted with the aim of identifying the success factors of the respective formats. All formats are not only categorised according to topics but also, above all, analysed according to language codes and communications strategies.
Based on that, a databank is set up, which is intended to enable the drafting of tailored products for intermediate platforms and thus to open new niche markets in the digital television sector.

Aim

The convergence of the media television, telephones and the Internet results in new market scenarios in the ITC branch. Companies, which are interested in these developments, are offered a marketable product; not only a new television format has been identified but also the suitable target group, the marketing model and proposals for rectifying technical difficulties and to clarify technical publishing questions.

Project DCD (Debian Custom Distribution)

Description

In cooperation with Agnula, Demudi, Dynebolik and Strambox, a multimedia-capable version of the Debian software was developed based on insights from the application of other Debian versions. Recognition of the periphery devices, the serviceability of the desktop and the configuration tools and the completeness of the manuals are thereby taken into consideration. The integration of other innovative applications is envisaged.

Aim

The project is aimed above all at small and medium-sized companies in the multimedia branch. Precisely small and medium-sized companies can profit from efficient, adaptable and favourably priced software.

Virtual Territory Project

Description

In conjunction with local public administrations, interactive software has been developed, which enable the virtual visits in the region and access to the appropriate information to be effected.

Aim

The application is intended to be used as an interface between citizens and local institutions (representatives of industry, transport, tourism etc).

Virthualis Project

Description

The project is coordinated by the Milan Polytechnic and is a cooperation with 50 partners from 13 European countries. The project budget amounts to 15 million Euros, of which 9 million are borne by the European Union. The aim is to develop interactive helmets, data gloves and other high-tech devices for immersive imaging and simulations.

Aim

Evaluation of the use possibilities of VR applications for the minimisation of the accident risk in the processing industry.
