Brief description
The Agroalimentare dell’Umbria Technology Park was founded in 1989 by the Umbria Region; its funding was carried out as part of the Integrated Mediterranean Programme of the EU and serves the development and introduction of innovations in the agricultural industry: hereby it is intended, on the one hand, that modern agriculture be promoted. That is concentrated on the link between productivity and environmental protection by means of modern technologies and new organisation models. On the other hand, the quality features of the agricultural/food products are intended to be emphasised. The infrastructure of the park ranges from a covered area of over 4000 m². Included here are laboratories and greenhouses with modern equipment for the research and development of new products and the provision of highly qualified services for companies in the agricultural / food sector.
The Umbria Region and the University of Perugia, which are linked by a cooperation contract, are the main points of contact of the park, as far as proposals and sponsorship of the research activities are concerned. The park sees as its top priority tasks the bundling of the proposals, so that the companies present in the marketplace from agriculture and the agricultural / food sectors can resort to these in the form of services. 3A – the Technology Park Agroalimentare dell'Umbria is a consortium without profit aims and with mixed capital. Its task is not only the general administration, coordination and support of the park but also the direct realisation of activities in the fields of agriculture, agriculture /food and the environment.
