Main points

The Science and Technology Park is distinguished as a structure, which links both the capability of the region and also the new innovation limits: ideas and project possibilities are integrated, the build up of relations between industry and research is facilitated, research initiatives and processes of innovation and technology transfer are initiated.
In particular, this is shown in the following permanent activities:
- Monitoring and analysis of innovation requirements and potential and upvaluation of human resources of the companies and branch /chain;
- Review of new innovation possibilities and initiation of business ideas from research;
- Accompanying the start of targeted cooperation projects in the field of industrial research, strengthening the competitiveness and training;
- Incubator for innovation-based companies and spin-offs;
- Consulting for the strategy implementation related to the build up of competitiveness of local production systems;
- Support for technical-organisational modernisation processes of the local authorities and the provision of services for citizens and the region;
- Sensitivisation for and dissemination of information on topics from research and innovation.

The procedure developed by the park serves to support the named activities, for which the following tools are significant: foundation of public consulting units for technology and innovation. For this targeted company visits and technological preliminary investigations (pre-audits) are organised in operating sites. The companies are provided on the one hand with widely varying information and, on the other hand, with initial support both for the initiation of new innovation-based business proclivities and also for die upvaluation of human resources. The consulting unit is supported by an observatory, which is organised according to existing innovation readiness of SMEs of diverse branches/selected areas.
In addition, the Salerno Science and Technology Park and AIC have promote and managed a corporate incubator since 2004 for the ICT segment in Benevento. The incubator has a series of equipped areas. Hereby, on the one hand, the establsihment of new high-tech companies is to be supported and, on the other hand, companies with innovative development programmes are to be attracted. In the incubator, the companies are offered basic services in relation to area usage. The management of the park takes on the periodic monitoring of the corporate performance. Moreover, services are offered which can be combined individually depending on the requirements of the companies involved.
In order to extend further the assistance for company foundations and development, the Science and Technology Park Salerno and A.I.C., in coordination with the Community of Cava de’ Tirreni, plans the setting up of an Innovation Centre. This Innovation Centre is aimed with its incubators, in particular, at companies with a high degree of expertise. In addition, the Park heads an initiative, which is supported by the Ministry for Economic Development. The first project with the name Techframe concentrates on the assistance and tutoring activities for several years for founding companies in the ICT segment; the second project, BioStarNet, is aimed at new foundations in the biotechnology branch.
From January 2009 and for the coming four years, the Salerno Park and A.I.C, linked to the "Centro Europe Direct" Salerno and A.I.C. The Park is thus incorporated into the network of European Antenna and acts as a link between the European Union and the local population. Included here are, in particular, the companies, research centres and the young qualified HRs.

The Park is registered in the:
· Register for research laboratories of the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research
· Register run by the Region of Campania for consulting activities and research orders for the investigation of the scientific and technological development of SMEs in the Region of Campania.

The Park is, moreover, accredited with the Region of Campania as an education organ.
The work methodologies of the Science Park were certificated in accordance with ISO 9001:2000.
