Activities

PST.KR has convened, as part of the activities of the technology district for cultural heritage in Calabria, the first Meeting for Innovation. Here the starting shot for the Messiah project was fired, which is located in the Centre for Monitoring and Technological Observatory (CMOT).

  • Objective Attention was focused on the foundation of a network activated by the companies located in the district. This network is considered as the basis for the sustainability of the initiative.

Structure The meeting can be sub-divided into three phases:

  • 1. Phase: The attention was focused here on the detailed presentation of the topics both regarding the inventory of the cultural heritage and also the current status of the university research.
  • 2. Phase: Then interest was focused on the national and regional textile companies, which are developing the innovative technologies for the cultural heritage area
  • 3. Phase: Thereafter, a joint meeting took place to discuss the various motions and the needs of the local companies involved.

For the generation of new development ideas and for mutual exchange, the companies participating in the meeting were requested to take part in a brief brainstorming, in order to filter the supply and demand for innovations. Results of the Brainstorming The joint results were initially worked out and arranged in accordance with the management process of the heritage assets (knowledge, preservation, use and valorisation) in order to then analyse them in accordance with the dimensions of the innovation (process, market, product/services). The starting point for the tasks taken over by CMOT was the valorisation process with the following breakdown through to the knowledge process. Starting from the valorisation there were diverse innovation proposals: from the development of the services offers in the outsourcing process via craft training through to the development of products and services for Digital-TV. With regard to the products, two interesting points, which ought to be pursued, were drawn up by several participants: firstly, the reconditioning of the Calabrian style element ebony; secondly, the development of reproductions in virtual companies. With regard to the sphere of usage, in particular, the Financing Project was emphasised. The focal point here was the use of a finance tool for restoring or preserving cultural heritage, especially for use and upgrading. Another topic related to the sensitisation of the young with regard to responsible treatment of the immense capital value of cultural heritage. A further topic was preservation. Here two procedures for the process of innovation were proposed: 1. Introduction of specialisation tools and capital certifications in the preservation area 2. Necessity of promoting the incorporation of restoring and construction companies in special projects. At the close of the conference, it was requested with regard to the extension of the markets to identify pointers which are conducive to the opening up of foreign markets, in particular, those in the East, towards the Russian/Chinese markets and towards the Mediterranean countries.

Contacts to Germany already exist:

We have included the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany in the II Call by Interreg IVC –WaterMan Project. The objective of the project envisages an exchange of experience and knowledge and political commitment in the following directions: - Enhancement of the supply quality and the water preparation, including cooperation in the field of water reserves; - Integrated, sustained support and participation in the administration of inland waterways and seawater; - Development of an ecosystem based approach in the field of sustained administration of the seas and coastal regions including the advantages of use of the sea; - Adjustment to the effects of climate change in the water economy sector. In the light of these afore-named aims and the priorities laid out in the invitation to tender for INTERREG IVC, WATERMAN pursues the main aim of an integrative approach with the analysis of a broad spectrum of problems and the drawing up of possible pre-requisites for 2030 in the sphere of applicable strategies in the cost-benefit relationship in the individual regions.
